ABOUT SOCIETY FOR NUTRITION & DIETETICS
 
Nutrition is the provision, to cells and organisms, of the materials necessary (in the form of food) to support life. Nutrition is the process by which food is taken and utilized in the body. The diet of an organism is what it eats, which is largely determined by the perceived palatability of foods. Dietetics is the study pertaining to diet or proper food / of or relating to diet. Many common health problems can be prevented or alleviated with a healthy diet.

Nutritional science investigates the metabolic and physiological responses of the body to diet. With advances in the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, nutritional immunology, molecular medicine and genetics, the study of nutrition is increasingly concerned with metabolism and metabolic pathways: the sequences of biochemical steps through which substances in living things change from one form to another. And dietetics deals with the delivery of essential nutrition to the body.

A group of like-minded professionals in the health fields resolved to form a scientific body to bring Nutritional Science and Dietetics together for the benefit of all and to highlight the importance of dietetics and nutrition in the maintenance of health, and in the prevention and treatment of diseases. The Society For Nutrition & Dietetics will act as the bridge to connect these two related fields for the benefit of mankind at large.
